When to Breed ? The leading cause of an unsuccessful mateing is improper timeing. Most dog owners are day-oriented.They attempt to breed on the tenth to the fourteenth day of the heat cycle. Recent advances in the understanding of the reproductive cycle of the female dog indicate that ovulation cannot be accurately predicted just by counting the days of the heat cycle. You my miss the early sigans of heat,or your dog my show very little evdvance of them. ALL so , ovulation my occur several days after the female is in ( standing heat)( when she stands for the male and her tail will move out of the way) . Note: to check if she is ready RUB your finger along side of her pussy.Rub up and down. Her tail will move right out of the way. Further more, when the eggs have been shed, they must mature for sevanty two hours before they can combine with the sperm. The eggs can stay 7 days in the female reproductive system and still be good. Some bitches will conseave the 4 th day as late as the 25 th day of the mateing cycle . Bitches should be bred 3 times...2 nd...4 th...6 th..day after she is in standing heat.( The old way was the 9th day after she start bleeding, sticKer.. 11 day sticker... 13 th day sticker , "that should work."
